Introducing Doobais Chota Bheem aka Bhim Singh, Head bartender at MoombaiCo. Dubai, who proudly flaunts his Chota Bhim tattoo. MoombaiCo is a Restaurant Bar located at The H Hotel, in most promising Sheikh Zayed Road. We hosted our GM and HR networking at this hotel in summer 2015, beautiful property. Last weekend, we had a guest from the United States and wanted to try a new Indian restaurant. MoombaiCo. serves Iranian (Persian cuisine) with a touch of Mumbais Bollywood. The ambiance is great, vibrant with the full dose of Bollywood; the portraits are mostly from the 70s.
The restaurant holds outdoor and indoor spaces, one can enjoy the Soccer season while enjoying Shisha in their outdoor area while inside is more of a family space. We chose to sit inside with kids, as we spoke about the menu, I was told, As a vegetarian, I would be unlucky as they serve authentic Persian cuisine but I was happy to get my favorite vegetarian delight. Being a veggie is not unlucky; we have so many choices in different cuisines of the world to relish,Moombai offers various vegetarian dishes, vegetarians like me will just be satisfied as others.
Talking about Mumbai and not talk about the famous Mumbai street food, its definitely not possible. We ordered Vada Pav, Bhelpuri, and Pani puri and a non-vegetarian snack Masala Jhinga (fried prawns marinated in spices) for hubby. For drinks, we ordered Masala cola, Ananas ka sharbat (pineapple juice), and Chandan ka ras (Sandal Juice). Our dinner started with a bowl of Sago papad with three types of homemade chutneys, beetroot, mango, and peanut with Jal jeera on the side. The starters arrived within minutes.
I loved the freshly prepared hot Vada Pav and I think I was the only one to finish the entire plate of Pani Puri (small round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water (commonly known as imli pani), sweet tamarind chutney with raisins, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion or chickpeas). Indian street food is my most favorite food at all times. Bhelpuri wrapped in newspaper (Juhu beach style) was also good but Vadapav and Pani puri stole the night. I was already so full, didnt want to eat anymore but dinner was still on the way.
For dinner, we ordered Dal Makhni, Paneer Khurchan in vegetarian and for non-veg Patrani Machhi (fish wrapped in leaves) and Chicken, with Roti, Lachha Parantha, and Butter Naan. Kids ordered Fish fingers. We ordered small portions only as starters were already heavy. Their Chicken Berry Biryani is to die for but we didnt have any space for that, maybe next time.
My son desperately wanted a dessert so we ordered Gulab Jamun, it came with Rabdi on the side and Kulfi and fruit platter. He calls it Gulum Jaan and has recently become a huge fan,
The kulfi platter was awesome, served with fruits decorated on top of crushed ice, and kulfis on the side. I tried Malai Kulfi with pistachio; the little one got so excited and forgot the Gulab Jamun to try two flavors at once. My boy's love, love, and love sugar, luckily this one enjoys fruits too. There were three flavors, Malai, Mango, and Rose. Gulab Jamun was perfect, soft and full of syrup served hot, I love them as well. Damn, I have got a bad sweet tooth after having my boys, not good for my waistline,
